Unman, Wittering and Zigo is a 1971 British film directed by John Mackenzie and starring David Hemmings. It is based on a 1958 radio drama. In the story, a new teacher arrives at a school and begins to suspect his predecessor was murdered by the pupils, though his suspicions are written off as paranoia. He sets out to prevent the same fate from befalling him.
Unman, Wittering and Zigo are the last names in the class register. Zigo is always absent.
Aggeridge, Blisterine, Bungabine, Cloistermouth, Orris, Root, Lipstrob,
Ankerton and Borby are among the other names on the register. I would have preferred to keep the names in strict alphabetical order in the song, but that just wouldn't scan.
