The Strange Brew
After a brief hiatus of 16 years, Emperor Penguin reformed in London in 2017, with JT replacing Adrian Long. Lots of new songs quickly emerged. Here are some of them.
Neil sang, played guitar and keyboards and did some bits on the computer.
Nigel sang, played guitar and bass.
JT sang, played guitar, bass, harmonica and ebow.
Richard played the drums.

Power pop is a pretty formulaic genre -- a glorious formula, but still, predictable enough that lots and lots of bands can pull off a "perfect" blend of melody, harmony, jangle and crunch a time or two in the course of their careers. But I can't name another record that hits the magic spot EVERY SINGLE TRACK. This is so f$%#ing good.
