Talk to Me is a collaboration between London’s Emperor Penguin and San Diego’s Orbis Max. Written and recorded over a couple of weeks in October 2020, this song goes out to everyone who feels they could use a sympathetic ear in these difficult times.
"Holy Crap! The MAGIC made in the collaboration of Orbis Max and Emperor Penguin, the single, “Talk To Me” GIVES ME FREAKIN’ Goose Bumps! The fun and unlimited energy in the intro itself make you stop whatever you're doing to listen. Harmony galore, hooks aplenty, great guitar sounds and a selfless sense of angst that moves vocally to an openness and a feeling of inclusion...I Am Here, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! You ARE NOT broken...let’s get through this TOGETHER. A wonderful world message, that the world needs to hear." Jim Prell (The Music Authority).
"Bursting with energy and loaded with melody - the perfect antidote to the soul suck that is 2020."
Ronnie Carnwath (Cobwebs and Strange)
"This is a fantastic song--an exciting record that is just a joyous concoction that pop fans will savor." Alan Haber (Pure Pop Radio)
"Their best yet. And by 'best' I mean THIS IS FRIGGIN' AWESOME...!!' Carl Cafarelli (This is Rock'n'Roll Radio)
"Absolutely top notch!"
Wayne Lundqvist Ford (Ice Cream Man Power Pop and More)
"This song straight out rocks! And it takes me back to a time when Radio stations were there for people to call up in the middle of the night and talk to the D.J., maybe requesting a song, or getting advice. Quite literally, music can turn around any kind of bad situation one may be going through. And in the times we're living in now, this is the kind of song that we all need to hear! We should all be here for each other!
"Talk To Me" is uplifting both musically and lyrically, and features one of the coolest guitar solos! Everything about this song just says it's a hit! I applaud these extremely talented and gifted individuals for creating such a masterpiece." Lee Miller
"Talk To Me is a terrific, propulsive slab of new wave inflected power pop. It sports a wonderfully melodic guitar solo and a great high energy arrangement."
Ed Ryan
This is a slightly different version from the one released as a single in Autumn 2020.
lyrics
Here’s one for all the lonely listeners out there.
Hang on, we’ve still got hours to go.
I’ll stay till morning comes, I’ll take what you can share.
I’ll play the songs that say, ‘I love you’.
We’ll make it seem alright, we’ll fake it through the night.
If you’re lonely you can talk to me.
Hello, who’s calling? Do you feel you’ve lost control?
You know, I’m here for you ‘til dawn.
Explain to me about the dark night of your soul,
the pain that never lets go of you.
I’ll cure you, I’ll reassure you - put away those pills.
You’ll sleep better if you talk to me
Talk to me, talk to me –
if you feel depressed.
Talk to me, talk to me –
get if off your chest.
Talk to me, talk to me , talk to me
Talk to me.
Talk to me.
